The St Helena Currency Fund Ordinance (download Ordinance) came into effect in 1975 and the Currency Board came into existence in 1976. (see history)

The Currency Board comprises of four commissioners, these are

Chief Secretary (Chairperson) Financial Secretary Chief Finance Officer Deputy Chief Secretary
Andrew Wells Virginia Grace Desmond Wade Ethel Yon

The Board meets regularly to discuss all proposals relating to the issue of all new notes, circulation and commemorative coins.

The day to day operations of the currency fund are delegated to the Currency Officer who is responsible for the ordering and issuing of currency notes and coins, maintenance of records, and the preparation of annual audited financial statements.
